This car is truly unbelievable. It started life as a bog standard Volkswagen Golf Mk3, but that is where the similarities end. This car is stripped to the bone and has been rebuilt for one thing. Bass! Earth shaking, rib breaking, kidney kicking bass. MTX bass separates the men from the boys – after all they did design the first ever subwoofer and subwoofer enclosure! See, you’re even getting a free history lesson here.
In this car beats a heart of pure bass and with 8 amps totalling 30,000 watts of power, its no wonder this car is OFFICIALLY the loudest car in Scotland and currently the loudest car in Europe in its class. This car has 1500 metres of cable for the sound system in it for fuck sake, its astonishing. That paired up with enough sound deadening to sink a battle ship and an alternator capable of running a nuclear submarine. The American Abrams M1A1 tank that’s currently deployed in Iraq chasing Ossama and his monkies utilises 5 Hawker batteries to run its massive power supply and Stuarts Golf uses three of the bastards.
It’s not only the crystal clear bass that makes you look twice at this car, it’s the styling too. The car is nice and subtle and I really like that. It doesn’t instantly stand out (apart from the fact it’s as low as shagging your best mates maw.) It just looks like a tidy, immaculate MK3 Golf. However under its skin it has a scary secret.
When I met up with Stuart he told me two fascinating stories about the car. The first was when he took a trip to McDonalds in Hamilton and tried to negotiate a speed bump. It didn’t go to plan unfortunately and he was marooned on the middle of the speed bump rocking back and forth. In the end a Mitsubishi L200 came to the rescue and pulled it off the speed bump, nearly wrecking the underside of the car in the process.
The second story is absolutely brilliant. Recently he was threatened with an ASBO from a neighbour while demo’ing the car to a customer. This neighbour didn’t live next door, or at the end of the road for that matter. The ASBO was issued by a neighbour who lived HALF A MILE away. Oh and not forgetting when he nearly blew the windows out at KFC in Hamilton while giving the car a “wee” blast.
This is truly a masterpiece of car audio engineering. You really have to see it, and I’m sure if you take a trip down to Audio Advice in Bothwell, Stuart and the team will have no hesitation of giving you a demo and some expert advice.
I’ve been in this car modifying business now for about a year, and over this time I have seen some crazy cars. Guys with great imagination and nothing but pure passion for they’re past time. There is a fine line between car modifying as a hobby and as a passion and you can tell the select few from the others.
When I pulled up at Audio Advice in Bothwell I had little idea of what category owner Stuart would fall into. But as soon as I set eyes on his creation, it was obvious. Anyone who can spend this much time and money is a truly dedicated individual constantly chasing perfection, and you can only admire that.

The car had been requested to attend the 'Mitek On Tour' (owners of MTX) training event at Pinewood Studios in England in April where it will be used to demo what MTX products can achieve.
