FAMILY AFFAIR
It takes many things to create a Modified Automotive masterpiece, money, patience, balls, contacts, passion and determination. But, in the case of Ashan and Shahan there was another element, a little bit of friendly sibling rivalry.

I am an only child, but over the years I have seen many of my mates and their brother and sisters try and better whatever it is they decide is worth a battle. Sport, exams, music etc etc the list goes on, but, at the end of the day, the results are usually positive. You end up with 2 amazing footballers, loads of A’s and two amazing musicians. Never has this been so true in the case of these two brothers from the capital. They have managed to create two of the finest examples of modified cars I have seen. So it was only fitting that I paid them a visit.

Lets start with Ashan’s, this is a one of a kind BMW 330 that looks like no other I have ever seen. With its Zeemax wide arch kit and M3 décor, it looks stunning. The paint job on the car is superb, no photos will do it justice believe me, the interior is totally custom along with the bonnet, body kit and boot install. Ohh and not to mention a set of meaty lambo doors, it’s been a while since I seen them on a car, but you forget just how striking they are. When we drove around the centre of the capital everyone, and I mean everyone looked and smiled. Sometimes in this job abuse is hurled at the cars when we are trying to shoot, jealousy is a cruel mistress, however, everyone loved this car. It made everyone smile, and on this gorgeous day it was a fitting accessory to the June skyline.

And then there was the seemingly understated underdog, the Raith Rover or the Time Henman, but you would be so wrong. Shahan’s silver and pearl Subaru is a monster, Shahan is the first to admit that Ashan’s car is without doubt the most striking to look at, but that’s fine. Underneath the Glistening bodywork of Shahan’s car, lurk’s a missle, this car is all about performance. The car is currently running 500 bhp with full race spec suspension and I hear there is more racing specto come. Shahan’s car is definitely not as “Shouty” as Ashan’s, but I like the underestimated nature of the car. Don’t get me wrong, you would still look twice, then probably again if it passed you, and not just because of the sound, it is a pretty car.

The thing I love most about these car’s is the family connection, both these guys are not at each other’ throats, they respect each other’s work and are passionate about making each other’s car better. One advantage the boys do have is that they own their own Garage, Performance Autotrix, which is the base where most of the work is carried out. This explains why both cars have changed colour more times than Micheal Jackson. But that is brilliant, they are not content to leave their car’s the way they are, I seen Shahan’s car last year and I would have been delighted with what I had, but no. The car has been changed once again, now that is what it’s all about, constantly chasing perfection.

I loved these car’s, I was constantly changing my mind about which car I preferred. On one road you just couldn’t ignore the sheer panache of Ashan’s Beemer, but on others it was the speed, noise and sheer grip that the Scooby displayed. I couldn’t choose one, can you?
